ICF Environmental Project Manager in Leeds, United Kingdom

Description

At ICF, your bid and project management skills are a real asset. Over the past two decades, we’ve become the leading provider of environmental consultancy services to the UK’s Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra), as well as Natural England, the Environment Agency and other government agencies. We work with multiple partners to deliver monitoring and evaluation projects that provide the evidence and analysis for better policy in this hugely important area of work.

We’re now looking for an experienced project manager to join our environment team to coordination proposals and projects from inception, through implementation to successful outcomes for our clients. We particularly welcome applications from people with experience of management of ecological surveys.

This is your opportunity to make a tangible contribution to environmental policy, to manage the quality of evidence that informs it, and work alongside those who will use it. Our position on Defra’s Monitoring and Evaluation (MEL) framework and Research Development and Evidence framework offers you a range of secure, long-term work opportunities that are unmatched in the sector.

Why ICF?

ICF’s experts are global leaders, and thought leaders across a huge range of disciplines. Yet our approach is always collegiate and personal. You’ll join a team that’s focused only on delivering positive environmental impact, where respect for new ideas and expertise means we’re always ready to embrace differences. We’re never afraid to ask if there is a better way to do something.

This role offers you the chance to develop your career within a global business that takes a local, collaborative approach to working with our unrivalled network of experts here in the UK.

In your new role you will:

  • Bring together teams of relevant internal and external experts to deliver a portfolio of environmental monitoring and evaluation studies relating to land and environment.

  • Lead the preparation and submission of work orders and subsequent delivery. This will include budget development and contract review, management of quality, risk management, budget control, performance review / client feedback, and client liaison throughout project lifecycle.

  • Oversee the management of projects, ensuring all financial, contractual, and other obligations are achieved in accordance with the agreed terms of reference and in accordance with ICFs quality standards.

  • Build effective relationships with clients and ICF subcontractors to ensure delivery of high quality projects that meet client needs, on time and within budget.

You will come to us with:

  • A strong track record in the preparation and management of scientific, monitoring and/or research, working as a project and/or bid leader.

  • Experience of working in the environmental sector, ideally in relation to environment monitoring, data and analysis (especially ecological surveys)

  • Experience of leadership in a consulting or similar project-based environment.

  • Strong project management and commercial skills and expertise in business or programme leadership.

  • Ability to lead and deliver projects from inception to completion

  • Well honed interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This role will be positioned as a Managing Consultant or Lead Managing Consultant level, depending on experience.
