Missouri Department of Transportation Roadside Management Internship in Lees Summit, Missouri
- Promote best practices of vegetation management for the district, emphasizing the killing or removal of invasive plant species.
- Manage the herbicide application program for the district as directed by the Maintenance Operations Specialist.
- Maintain records of all applications and herbicide use and performing minor repairs to equipment.
- Assist in roadside vegetation projects for grassland restoration, planting for buffers, encroachment barriers, soil stabilization and enhancement plantings.
- Assist with inspection on contracted areas for mowing, litter removal and homeless encampment.
- Conduct follow up inspections of products, materials and methods relating to roadside vegetation management to determine effectiveness of programs.
- Communicate between district office and roadside crews.
- Perform other duties assigned.
