Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting sustaining engineering work in supply chain for in-production products and transitional support for new products. You will lead our Asia-based team of engineers and technicians. Your technical ability, problem-solving skills, and communication skills are key to troubleshooting, diagnosing, and driving issue resolution and prevention with suppliers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Initiates, performs, and maintains method improvement and cost reduction programs. These programs are initiated to provide continual improvement in quality, reduce the cost, and allow the most effective method of manufacturing.

  • Develops and maintains a plan to evaluate and improve the overall manufacturing strategy. This strategic plan includes an evaluation of manufacturing processes, justification of required equipment, design and manufacture of tooling fixtures, and analysis of facilities changes.

  • Works closely with manufacturing partners to evaluate value streams, assesses, prioritizes, and implements improvement projects to reduce waste and improve processes in the manufacturing area; maintains key metrics on cost and lead time reduction due to continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Selects, evaluates, motivates, and develops employees to ensure a qualified workforce necessary to meet company objectives.

  • Work with design engineers throughout the design cycle on projects to improve throughput and lower manufacturing costs.

  • Assist in design transfer from engineering to production.

  • Develop and improve manufacturing documents and standard operating procedures.

  • Works with manufacturing partners to acquire new equipment and/or fix existing equipment as needed.

  • Lead manufacturing engineering team in optimizing production processes, enhancing efficiency, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Develop and implement strategies to streamline manufacturing operations, reduce costs, and improve product quality and reliability.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering, to identify and address manufacturing challenges and opportunities.

Required Skills and Education:

  • B.S. in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or other accredited engineering discipline.

  • Seven to ten years of diversified manufacturing engineering experience.

  • Knowledge of the latest machine tools and manufacturing technology and the process of justification and planning.

  • Experience developing manufacturing capabilities for new products and improving the manufacturing capabilities of existing products.

  • Experience using tools like lean manufacturing and Six Sigma to focus on continuous process improvement.

  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.

  • Strong leadership and organizational capabilities

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
