Customs Specialist – 9-month FTC

Location: Bardon, Leicestershire

Working style: Core hours – Monday – Friday on site.

VF Corporation is looking to recruit a Customs Specialist at our UK Distribution Centre in Bardon, Leicestershire. This is a fixed-term contract to backfill an internal secondment.

Let’s Talk about the Role

Working as part of our Customs Team, the Customs Specialist will be responsible for making customs declarations for both import and exports, maintaining the import documentation and ensuring all relevant preferences are used.

How You Will Make a Difference

  • Responsible for ensuring the compliance of all DC customs procedures

  • Investigating any issues that may occur and helping to find a solution

  • Managing essential daily customs processes in a timely manner with excellent attention to detail

  • Building strong working relationships with all EMEA DC Customs and logistics departments

  • Ensuring that all inbound shipments are accurately updated and maintaining all Import duty preferences

  • Working with import and export couriers in an effective manner, to make sure that all critical procedures are followed, and additional information is obtained when required, to ensure a seamless supply chain process

Skills for Success

The successful candidate will be someone who is able to communicate effectively and work well as part of a team, as well as being able to demonstrate many of the following skills and experiences:

  • The ability to build relationships with other departments in the DC and EMEA customs teams

  • Possess a good understanding of Excel and general IT systems knowledge e.g. MS Office, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams , reporting tools and databases

  • Possess the desire to drive quality and compliance, adding value and developing processes, bringing new ideas and ways of working effectively

  • A flexible, agile approach to work with the ability to adapt, change focus and work under pressure when required

  • Able to work as part of a team, but also independently and use initiative to solve problems and achieve goals
