Job Description

Performance Contracting Group is seeking a full-time paid intern to support the Human Resources Department during the summer of 2025 at our corporate headquarters in Lenexa, KS . As a key member of the HR Department, this individual is responsible for assisting with a wide range of projects related to HR and federal contracts compliance, recruiting, employee onboarding, and facilitation of our substance abuse prevention programming.

The HR Intern will have opportunities to learn the practical application of:

  • Steps in the recruiting and hiring process, including: posting job openings, reviewing resumes, conducting phone interviews, and making job offers.

  • The importance of employment law and compliance, especially regarding employment eligibility, confidentiality, proper maintenance of employee files, and forms management.

  • The significance of employment drug testing and an ongoing substance abuse prevention program.

  • The interrelationship of HR and Payroll in the areas of new employee paperwork, payroll issues related to onboarding and termination, and report generation.

  • Maintaining data integrity through audits and administrative management of HR Systems such as an HCM, ATS, employee file management systems, etc.

  • Collaboration with stakeholders in various Human Resources roles such as HR Business Partner, HR Systems Analyst, Employment Specialist, Recruiter, HR Administrator, and/or Substance Abuse Program Coordinator.

  • Management and administration of an employee benefits program, including health insurance, retirement plans, and initiatives promoting employee well-being.

Please note, this internship will run the course of 10 weeks during the summer of 2025. Generally, the typical working hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Requirements

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be in pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in Human Resources, Business, Business Administration, or similar during the summer of 2025

  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, for ten weeks during the summer of 2025

  • Ability to multi-task and pivot to new projects, as needed

  • Willing to take initiative within a team environment

  • Maintain accountability for completion of independent work

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and/or Teams

  • Display excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and operate with a sense of professionalism

Preferred Requirements:

  • Local to the KC Metro area
