Laboratory Support Coordinator

Technical Services (Manufacturing support & small scale operations) at Shire is a group that provides scientific and technical expertise to the facility manufacturing operations, and develops process improvements. Focus areas are leading complex investigations, achieving higher process yields, and improving the process robustness.

A Process Laboratory is included into the Technical Services department, where the manufacturing operations are simulated in smaller scales to study and optimize the process parameters. The primary role of the Laboratory Support Coordinator is to ensure smooth organization of the lab operations and perform projects that contribute to the overall performance of the laboratory. The Support Coordinator strongly collaborates with the Lab Coordinator and Scientists.


  • To manage the equipment status to ensure smooth lab activities, including contacts with internal services and external suppliers, and the insurance of the compliance of the system with current regulations

  • To perform improvement projects, write and approve scientific protocols and reports, change requests, qualification documents and SOP’s

  • According to priorities and needs, coordinate the practical aspects of experiments (such as samples, shipment,…) and lead the daily meeting/board.

  • Communicate adequately within the plasma network (local/global), ensure sharing of experiment design and study results presentation.

  • To support or track the process parameters, operations, yields, samples and results to ensure that the experiments are conducted adequately and in the most optimal conditions.

  • Lead in troubleshooting teams and propose practical available solutions in the lab to design problem solving experiments.


  • Master in Sciences (Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry or Bioengineering)

  • Background in a pharmaceutical environment is an asset

  • Good in scientific and technical redaction (English and French)

  • Good working knowledge of MS Office programs and statistic tools

  • Scientific and analytical mindset, familiar with regular lab manipulations

  • Excellent interpersonal, communicational and team skills

  • Autonomous, rigorous, dynamic and creative
