The Behavioral Services Tech functions as a key member of an interdisciplinary team providing highly structured psychiatric and or substance abuse services to the population served. Behavioral Services Techs function under the direct supervision of an RN.
Scope of Service:
Inpatient Behavioral Services consists of D3 (a 13-bed adolescent (12–18 years) psychiatric unit, C4 (an 18-bed adult psychiatric unit), and D4 (an 18-bed detox/rehab unit).
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required
CNA or BHP certification preferred.
In lieu of certification, college training in mental health technology, behavioral science, social work, rehabilitation therapy, or its equivalent may be substituted for the general experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling six (6) months of experience up to a maximum of two (2) years.
Completion of a mental health training certificate program may be substituted for six (6) months
CPR or a BLS certification required
Patient de-escalation training is required within 60 days of hire
MANDT is required for brief but extreme periods of physical intervention to manage out training within 60 day.
Experience:
1 year of previous experience in behavioral health services
Other Skills Required:
Ability to handle multiple priorities and work well under pressure
Ability to manage stress appropriately
Flexibility required to provide coverage 24 hours/day, 7 days per week
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
