Covenant Health BEHAVIORAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN in Lewiston, Maine

JOB SUMMARY

The Behavioral Services Technician functions as a key member of an interdisciplinary team providing highly structured psychiatric services to emotionally impaired adolescents.

Scope of Service:

Behavioral Medicine consists of A2 (a 14-bed adolescent (12–18 yrs.) psychiatric unit, B2 (an 8-bed child (5-12 yrs.) psychiatric unit), A3 (a 31-bed adult psychiatric unit), and D4 (an 18-bed detox/rehab unit), the Adolescent (13–18 yrs.) Psychiatric AIOP Program, the Adult Psychiatric and Chemical Dependency IOP/Partial Hospital programs. CCS Psychiatry is an outpatient psychiatric office. The most frequent psychiatric diagnoses are major depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, adjustment disorder, PTSD, conduct disorder, and psychotic disorders.

  • Models appropriate social interaction skills, including boundaries, communication, conflict resolution, etc. with patients, families, peers, and others

  • Provided immediate crisis management services in response to behavioral emergencies using accepted, non-verbal and physical techniques

  • Encourages patient self-care or provides direct care with patient ADL's, when indicated

  • Leads activity-oriented groups and outside activities

  • Maintains and documents special precautions within specified time frames

  • Intervenes when the patient is dangerous to self or others, utilizing the least restrictive interventions, but may include seclusion and/or restraint, under the direction of an RN

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION

  • High School diploma or GED required

  • Valid State of Maine CNA license required

  • BLS certification required

  • Valid Maine Driver's License required

    EXPERIENCE

  • Will consider a new CNA with applicable experience

    OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and stress appropriately
