Shire Associate Director Innovation and Process Optimization in Lexington, Massachusetts

This process improvement role is responsible for compiling and analyzing data to identify

opportunities that allow for streamlining clinical development processes, present assessment findings, and design improvement projects. The Process Improvement representative will lead process improvement projects within Clinical Development with an

emphasis on increasing efficiencies to achieve operational excellence while improving the delivery of clinical development programs. The Associate Director will work closely with

colleagues within operational excellence to ensure successful implementation of improvement plans and in developing and imbedding skills and behaviors that will establish a sustainable continuous improvement culture within Clinical




Review of ongoing processes throughout clinical development and identification of opportunities for process improvement/optimization, preparing reports for assessment, and working with team lead to produce business cases


Design and implementation of initiatives that eliminate waste, reduce cycle time and improve Clinical Development performance while establishing a sustainable model for continuous improvement.


Act as a change agent to instill the continuous improvement culture throughout the organization. Communicate the learning, the thought processes and the impact across the organization and value delivery system.


· Bachelor's degree in science or medically related field or business

· 8 - 10 years of industry experience directly related to clinical development process required.

· Experience defining clinical development project strategies and or developing successful solutions utilizing formal project management practices and processes required.

Preferred qualifications:

Six Sigma certification or other formal project management training


Approximately 15% travel expected
