Shire Director Facilities in Lexington, Massachusetts

Primary Role:

Responsible for oversight and management of all maintenance activities at Shire’s Lexington Site. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Effective continuous operational support of Manufacturing, Research, Process Development, Quality Control Labs, and GMP warehouses.

  • Oversight and management of maintenance activities and operational support of Shire’s QC Laboratories and GMP storage facilities in Latin America.

  • Represents Shire during compliance audits and regulatory agency inspections.

  • Represents Shire in interactions with local Authorities, Property Management companies, and Tenants.

  • Provides overall guidance and sets policies for providing reliable and efficient building services and support.

  • Responsible for the sanitization/cleaning program, including program development and implementation planning.

  • Provides overall management and planning of scheduled manufacturing plant shutdowns

  • Responsible for the management of budgets for multiple cost centers.

  • Responsible for buildings and grounds associated with the Lexington campus.



Ensures uninterrupted operational support to Lexington manufacturing site


Directly manages, mentors, and develops staff to ensure the performance of their duties complies with internal and external requirements.


Develops budgets, goals and objectives.

Ensures budgets, resources, and planning are aligned with company objectives.


Ensures effective support of Shire Lab/Warehouse operations in LATAM.


Provides overall management and planning of scheduled manufacturing plant shutdowns on all Shire MA manufacturing plants.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • BS in engineering or equivalent. Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical and process systems employed in the manufacturing process. Good working knowledge of applicable regulations and codes.

  • Extensive, progressive experience in Bio-pharmaceutical and/or related regulated industries in management/leadership role.

Other Job Requirements:

The ability to work at all Shire MA locations is required. Incumbent will be required to carry a mobile phone and be on call as necessary to support operations.
