Shire Market Insights Lead in Lexington, Massachusetts
This position will lead US Business Insights (market research & competitive intelligence) for the Primary Immunodeficiency, Alpha-1, MMN and Acute Albumin teams to support current and future commercial objectives. The Business Insights Lead will be accountable for the generation, interpretation and synthesis of market research & competitive intelligence initiatives delivering insights to aide in decision making for driving and achieving organizational goals. Strategically partner with Franchise leadership and marketing teams in identifying innovative methods and approaches that yield differentiating and more impactful outcomes to leverage business opportunities and challenges. Proactively lead efforts to consider new methods and approaches to support deeper insights.
In collaboration with marketing & US BIO stakeholders, leads gap identification and then designs and executes market research plans to provide insights required to support decisions and drive insights generation.
Identifies gaps and generates a yearly market research plan & budget for each product/team being supported including: business needs, timelines, methodology & budget
Executes market research projects per plan including: vendor identification, selection, project management, all internal/Shire processes (e.g. CMLR, PPT), utilization of new research methodologies and data sources (where appropriate), and presentation of final deliverables
Manages primary and secondary market research for in-line and pipeline products with the specified therapeutic areas
Presents market research data in easy to understand presentations which include strategic implications and recommendations
Ensures collaboration with global colleagues to share information & cross learning for extrapolation of US insights & data with GPS for benefit of Global decision making
Contributes to the development of strategy across relevant franchises to ensure customer centricity and patient focus
Actively communicates and delivers insights to cross-functional teams and constructively challenges current assumptions; brings competitive mindset to discussions
Ensures US competitive intelligence needs are met.
Ensures alignment with GPS on scope of GPS coverage – identifies gaps which require US-specific coverage or budget to support US requirements
Identifies any additional US-specific needs above & beyond GPS plans – including identification & selection of vendors, budget plans & prioritization of needs vs budget limitations
Leads US CI conference coverage in collaboration with GPS colleague & vendor
Ensures CI or reports generated by US or GPS get disseminated to appropriate US stakeholders
Manages US Key Intelligence Topics/Questions list for CI vendor & conference coverage (in collaboration with GPS colleague(s)
Ensures market research and competitive intelligence is incorporated into all business planning processes (e.g. Brand Planning, LRP, etc.)
Collaborates and shares best practices across other Business Insights colleagues, US BIO team, GPS MI&I colleagues and others
Participates in validation of assumptions for forecasting processes
In collaboration with other US BIO disciplines, ensures deepest possible insights generation across all data sources to support decision making
Actively participate in leadership amongst US BIO initiatives to support US Immunology Franchise goals
Education and Experience Requirements
A Bachelor’sdegreeinBusinessManagement, Marketingor relatedsubjectisrequired
MBA/M.Sc./Pharm.D an asset
Recommended 7+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, 3+ years of market research or competitive intelligence is required.
Excellent working knowledge of primary research methodologies (qualitative and quantitative)
Sales analytics experience as asset
Experience of project management across a range of functions, seniority, and geography
High proficiency PowerPoint and Microsoft Applications is required
Experience in commercial or product strategy is a plus.
