POSITION : Process Engineer II
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Shire Human Genetic Therapies Inc. is seeking a Process Engineer II with the following duties: act as engineering lead and owner for planning and implementation of key technology transfer initiatives, developmental activities, major engineering changes and process improvement projects; establish, review and define scope and design of new or/and existing equipment, single use components and process in collaboration with cross functional teams; provide technical ownership in planning, design and execution of engineering studies and data interpretation when formulating design decisions while actively utilizing statistical tools (design of experiments) and principles of quality by design; utilize applied knowledge of engineering principles (mass balances, mass transport, cell growth kinetics, fluid dynamics) in context of biological unit operations (stirred tank bioreactors, wave bioreactors, centrifuge, filtration) and automation of unit operations for troubleshooting and designing studies; identify opportunities and lead actions for improvement of equipment, automation and process efficiency and design; author or approve, own and maintain site level engineering documents including protocols, reports, specifications and drawings; mentor junior engineers as required in developing and executing operational and project related tasks; study reactor performance and determine optimized scale-up design parameters by utilizing principles of mass transport, kinetics and thermodynamics; plan and execute factorial design experiments and protocols to support root cause analysis using lean/six sigma statistical tools including hypothesis testing (ANOVA, t-test, p-test); test automation logic of DeltaV automated production recipes and develop reactor mathematical model; perform technical investigations of atypical events, identify design improvements and support project execution related to single use components.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related and 5 years related experience. Will accept any level of experience in the following required skills: study reactor performance and determine optimized scale-up design parameters by utilizing principles of mass transport, kinetics and thermodynamics; plan and execute factorial design experiments and protocols to support root cause analysis using lean/six sigma statistical tools including hypothesis testing (ANOVA, t-test, p-test); test automation logic of DeltaV automated production recipes and develop reactor mathematical model; perform technical investigations of atypical events, identify design improvements and support project execution related to single use components.
Full time. $110,000.00 - $115,000.00/year. Competitive compensation and benefits.
