Shire Senior Maintenance Planner in Lexington, Massachusetts

Primary Role:

Under limited supervision, the Senior Planner is responsible for developing maintenance plans and schedules for their assigned area. The plans must take into consideration any special tools that are required, environmental considerations, manpower availability (internal and external), equipment availability, work permits, materials (stocked and non-stocked) and contractor activities. Support as necessary maintenance scheduling activities.


40%: Provide planning for corrective (non-emergency), preventive, predictive and proactive maintenance activities and calibrations for the Maintenance area. Planning includes developing and clarifying the scope of work, coordinating the manufacturing windows, evaluating and load balancing resources and spare parts (stock and non-stock materials).

25%: Develop a weekly schedule for Maintenance Supervisors. Organize the planned maintenance work schedule to optimize for time.

15%: Develop standards for repetitive jobs, historical job estimates and track craft/crew manhour backlog.

10%: Create and maintain the Calendar to manage all PM’s over one-year cycle

10%: Responsible for the Shutdown (planned outage) schedule and coordinating with department personnel and production areas  


Education and Experience Requirements:

Associate degree and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Biotech maintenance or Manufacturing OR 6-10 years combination of education, training and experience in a cGMP related environment in one of the following fields: Maintenance, Process Equipment Maintenance or Calibrations.

Other Job Requirements:

Should be able to climb a ladder, reach, bend, and lift loads up to 50 lbs. Valid Driver’s license.
