The Manager is a member of the Materials Management Leadership Team (MMLT). This person develops the execution plan in support of the external drug substance (DS) fill operations in alignment with the Sales and Operations Plan (S&OP), ensuring strong functional and operations alignment.
The manager will oversee and manage the process for an integrated approach to coordinating resources in order to execute the Sales and Operations Plan (S&OP) for external DS fill operations. This person is responsible to streamline internal manufacturing planning and scheduling practices to ensure smooth continuous DS supply to external fill operations.
Overall responsibility includes coordinating and execution of the S&OP plan across functions, scheduling and timely delivering of DS to external fill CMOs, inventory management unpurified bulk (UPB) and drug substance (DS). This person is a leader in the utilization of the SAP system and ensures maximum utilization by leveraging both, processes and system, to provide timely visibility of schedule and material status across the supply chain. The manager develops SOPs, policies, techniques, and systems in support of the function to ensure adherence to external fill operations plan, including and not limited to the following responsibilities.
Lead and ensure adequate scheduling, planning, ordering and release of UPB and DS following the established S&OP plan. Partner with QC, QA, Finance, Supply Chain and Manufacturing to align and execute on S&OP plan and establish priorities and schedule
Develop, implement, and manage techniques to deliver DS to external fill manufacturing as per schedule
Coordination of all activities which include systems, processes supporting the release, distribution, expediting, scheduling, performance monitoring, and status reporting of DS scheduled/delivered to CMOs for external fill operations
Develop, implement, and manage UPB & DS inventory strategy and policies; drive inventory accuracy, manage obsolescence and expiry, non-conforming/scrap, and material transfers. Implement inventory strategies and optimum levels to ensure continued manufacturing fill operations
Provide data, reports, Right First Time (RFT) and customer service focused KPIs to management relating to execution of the S&OP plan for external fill operations
Education & Experience Requirements:
Minimum BA with 7+ years of relevant experience in GMP materials management in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry within a multi-site manufacturing environment
BA/BS degree in business or technical background required (Engineering, Science, Business, Supply Chain)
Advanced degree (MS/MBA) preferred
Completion of formal training in lean/six sigma and operational excellence is a plus
