Summary of Duties:
The Instructor has the responsibility for developing curricula and teaching Practical Nursing Program courses, as well as completing course assessments and student evaluations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Instructor has the responsibility for developing curricula and teaching Practical Nursing Program courses, as well as completing course assessments and student evaluations. In addition, specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Teach Practical Nursing Program courses according to expected workload (18 contact hours per week), which may include day, evening, and/or weekend classes. Teaching assignments may include didactic, distance education, laboratory, and off-campus clinical instruction.
- Provide 10 office hours per week for student advising, curriculum development, online course development/delivery, textbook review/selection, and assessment activities.
- Provide professional and community service. Includes attending faculty and curriculum meetings, participation in professional development, mentoring adjunct instructors, serving on campus committees, and community activities.
- Foster an atmosphere of inclusiveness and support for our diverse student population.
- Be committed to implementation of the philosophy and conceptual framework of the Nursing Program.
- Maintain appropriate professional certifications and licenses as applicable.
- Be willing to teach in other nursing courses as needed.
- Understand and be committed to the Rhodes State College mission and two-year college instruction.
- Actively engage student success and completion initiatives within a comprehensive student support design.
- Be committed to nursing education professional development.
- Perform other similar duties as required.
Experience, Skills & Abilities:
*Required- *
- Two or more years' experience in nursing care of the acutely and/or chronically ill.
- An ability to organize activities and to maximize student learning outcomes; knowledge of accrediting bodies appropriate to nursing education program; must be knowledgeable in delivering instruction via distance education and in accommodating academic schedules to meet the needs of students.
Preferred-
- Previous teaching experience in a Practical Nursing Program or at a two-year college level.
Education & Certifications:
Required-
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
- Registered Nurse, licensed in the state of Ohio
