Robert Half International Sr. Cost Accountant in LINCOLNSHIRE, Illinois


Senior Cost Accountant candidates looking for work might be interested in Robert Half's opportunity with a growing client. If you are an experienced Cost Accountant with an aptitude for adaptability, this may be the Senior Accountant role for you! This temporary to full-time employment opportunity is based in the Lincolnshire, Illinois area.


  • Implement monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, reports) in compliance with GAAP

  • Constantly improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process

  • Assemble monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management reporting

  • Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments

  • Ad-hoc projects as necessary

  • Operate with business partners to create compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls and provide support on special requests

  • Analyze financial results (benchmarks, trends, performance metrics)

  • Coordinate quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors

  • Prepare reconciliations of Balance Sheet accounts

    Requirements - At least 2-3 years of cost accounting experience at a publicly traded company required

  • Minimum 5-7 years of overall general accounting experience

  • BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are highly desired

  • Experience in SOX control execution/documentation

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are a must

  • Aptitude for analyzing financial data and generating accurate reports in a timely manner

  • Skilled with ERP systems

  • Vow to meet business deadlines

  • Command of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, V-lookups, data merges, etc.)

  • Inventory analysis experience

  • Account reconciliation experience

  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

  • Ability to work well with functional department managers

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills
