The Emerging Capabilities Development group of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking an exceptionally talented, motivated, and creative Software Engineering Manager, responsible for supporting the organization with growth and employee pipeline management.

Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs. Northrop Grumman’s ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, and Silicon Carbide) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. The Software Engineering Manager 2 supports Systems and Infrastructure organization for the ATL Foundry. The Software Engineering Manager 2 will serve as the functional manager of five total agile scrum teams, with the support of two reporting managers. This position relies on the product owners to run and manage the projects, but supports the teams from blockers, and helps to define plan for future work and funding for projects. This will be an onsite position with up to 25% domestic travel may be expected.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing staffing and reporting status and metrics to IPT and Functional leadership

  • Provide functional management to direct reports, including career guidance, staffing, interviewing/onboarding, disciplinary actions, and direct engagement

  • Oversee all product activities for a team of developers, employing an AGILE-focused process

  • Support funding activities for products in direct benefit of programs.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of 9 years of software development experience or Masters Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 7 years of experience

  • Prior agile software team leadership experience

  • Experience designing, developing, integrating, verifying, and qualifying software products with software and systems engineering.

  • Knowledge of Dev*Ops principles and tools—Specifically Git source control knowledge and Atlassian Suite (Jira, BitBucket, etc) knowledge

  • US Citizenship required

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

  • Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result and provide direction to resolve priorities to achieve goals.

  • Make decisions that impact the organization’s credibility, operations, and services.

  • Comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.

  • Open to learning about manufacturing principles, semiconducting manufacturing, and testing

Preferred Requirements:

  • Led or played a key role in efforts involving Digital Transformation implementation/proliferation.

  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution (MES), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems

  • Experience in developing applications

  • Experience developing BOEs and supporting IMS and IFC planning

  • Experience and demonstrated ability to lead and manage technical teams including job analysis, new product design, system architecture, software development, system integration and working with customers and other stakeholders to perform requirement definition.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) with SCI clearance

Salary Range: $145,000 - $217,400

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
