Shire Country Medical Lead - Portugal in Lisbon, Portugal
Main purpose of the role
Provides comprehensive medical and scientific support for Shire product portfolio within a local operating company (LOC). Primary responsibilities include medical and scientific education for internal and external colleagues, collaborative support for commercial activities and opinion leader development.
As appropriate for the LOC, responsibilities also include ensuring adherence to applicable laws, codes and regulations.
Develop and deliver quality medical education / scientific presentations in a variety of internal and external settings and to obtain valuable feedback that can be disseminated throughout the organization.
Respond to unsolicited requests for information from healthcare professionals.
Provide medical and scientific training and updates to the sales forces.
Provide speaker training as appropriate for qualified speakers identified by the LOCs.
Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence from multiple sources.
Provide input and participate in cross-functional therapeutic projects such as publication planning, slide-deck development, training initiatives at the LOC level.
Provide local medical support to the Shire global pharmacovigilance department.
Participate in internal therapeutic advisory groups and project teams.
Attend selected appropriate national and international professional meetings to represent Shire, respond to medical and scientific questions and enhance the development of KOL relationship.
Review and approve LOC promotional materials and activities, including congresses and meetings, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and codes of practice.
Opinion Leader Development
In collaboration with medical advisor and LOC commercial teams, identify, build, and leverage relationships with national Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs):
Identify and develop key thought leaders for medical education and clinical research opportunities.
Establish a professional collaborative relationship with KOLs so as to be considered a valued credible resource of medical/scientific expertise and information both internally and externally.
Education & Experience Requirements
Completion of a MD graduate level degree (Physician)
Proficient in English language
Two – three years experience providing medical/scientific support
Relevant therapeutic area research or substantive patient care experience
An established track record of effective and influential oral presentations within the healthcare profession
Clinical practice for at least 3 years
Experience with drug therapy positioning with a track record of providing medical input and commercial collaboration
Knowledge of local, regional and international regulatory requirements as applied to product development, promotional activities, and pharmacovigilance
Knowledge of drug clinical development process, policies and regulations
