International HMI Functional Architect – EE Systems Engineer in Lisle, Illinois

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated HMI Functional Architect – EE Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Electrical Engineering (EE) systems, a strong grasp of functional architecture, and a passion for designing and implementing complex systems. As a Functional Architect focusing on HMI design, you will be responsible for translating complex business requirements into effective, user-friendly HMI solutions. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product managers, UX/UI designers, and engineers, to ensure that our HMI systems are intuitive, functional, and aligned with industry best practices.

Responsibilities

Architectural Design:

  • Develop and define the functional architecture for Electrical Engineering systems, ensuring alignment with project goals and industry standards.

  • Create and maintain system architecture diagrams, models, and documentation to guide the design and development process.

Requirements Analysis:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze system requirements, including technical specifications, business needs, and user expectations.

  • Translate requirements into functional and technical specifications for system design.

System Integration:

  • Design and oversee the integration of various electrical and electronic components within the system, ensuring seamless operation and interoperability.

  • Address and resolve integration challenges, ensuring system performance and reliability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with hardware engineers, software developers, and other technical teams to ensure cohesive system design and implementation.

  • Act as a liaison between different engineering disciplines to ensure that functional requirements are met and potential issues are addressed promptly.

Performance and Optimization:

  • Analyze system performance and identify areas for improvement.

  • Implement optimization strategies to enhance system efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for functional architecture, including design specifications, test plans, and system integration guidelines.

Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure that system designs adhere to relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 2 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

OR

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

  • Experience with advanced EE technologies and emerging trends.

  • Familiarity with software development and hardware-software integration.

  • Knowledge of HMI Systems, UX/UI Design and technologies

  • Experience in HMI design tools (e.g., Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD) and prototyping tools.

  • Experience with usability testing and user research methodologies.

  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
