International Senior Project Engineer in Lisle, Illinois

Position Overview

International’s R&D Team is looking for a talented and experienced Project Engineer – Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) that enjoys working in cross-functional teams and is passionate about developing the next generation of Driver Assistance Systems. The Project Engineer provides technical and analytical support to the Product Development process. They will serve as an engineering resource for the delivery of requirements, component/solution sourcing, system development, vehicle integration, issue resolution, and validation testing as the product moves through the program gates from concept to production and distribution. This position will be supporting development for all International’s vehicles ranging from school buses to line-haul tractors.

This position will be located at headquarters in Lisle, Illinois. Occasional support may also be required at our test and production facilities, as well as occasional onsite support at suppliers and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Participate as a member of cross-functional product development teams whose purposes are to design and develop commercial vehicle products that meet quality, cost, and timing objectives

  • Lead Benchmarking activities to enable competitive requirement setting

  • Collect and review customer requirements, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and other technical documentation relevant to ADAS feature development within a project

  • Develop and maintain ADAS feature requirements to ensure project targets are achieved

  • Lead ADAS feature development and integration activities through collaboration with cross-functional team

  • FMEA and DVP&R support in execution of Product Development processes

  • Support issue resolution using rigorous problem solving practices

  • Provide technical support for ADAS products to all areas

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 8 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

  • At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

OR

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 6 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

  • At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

OR

  • PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

  • At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

  • Experience in Automotive or Commercial Vehicle industry.

  • Knowledge of vehicle systems, including but not limited to: braking, steering, propulsion, HMI, and connected/OTA systems.

  • Experience in Driver Assistance Systems, Autonomous Vehicles, Mechatronic Systems, or Systems Engineering

  • Experience developing vehicle features or vehicle systems.

  • Experience developing technical requirements and driving delivery through a product development process.

  • Ability to analyze data from vehicle or system testing and draw meaningful conclusions.

  • Experience with engineering design and development methodologies: (e.g. 8D, FMEA, DVP&R).

  • Familiarity with automotive industry standards (ISO, SAE, NHTSA) and regulation related to ADAS.

  • A focus on safety and quality as well as use of the ISO26262 and ISO21448 processes for understanding and mitigating risk in these systems.
