Navistar, Inc. Suspension Product Engineer in Lisle, Illinois
Position Overview
We are seeking a Suspension Product Engineer to join our team at Navistar. In this role, you’ll lead in the development of Suspension engineering designs. Design solutions must serve the functional needs of the application but reflect an awareness of cost, weight, quality, manufacturability, and serviceability. You will serve as a central resource with design, process, manufacturing, test, quality, and marketing as the product(s) move to production and distribution. You’ll provide direction and guidance to less experienced team members and refer problems that cannot be resolved to the next level
Responsibilities
Creates, reviews, and updates standard processes
Mentors engineers on challenges of designing Suspension systems and components
Reviews designs for completeness and accuracy
Solves technical challenges
Resolves packaging challenges
Follows best engineering and quality practices dFMEA, 8D, ISO standards
Learns, understands, uses parts management database
Interfaces with purchasing/supplier on part design/drawing content
Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations
Coordinates testing of design for durability and compliance to Federal, State, and local requirements
Works directly with Manufacturing, Materials, Quality, Purchasing, and other Product Development Engineering groups
Supports Manufacturing and plant goals of safety, quality, and cost
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
At least 12 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience
At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies
OR
Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
At least 8 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience
At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies
OR
PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
At least 5 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies or specialized technologies and/or computer science experience
At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies
Additional Requirements
- Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills
Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
TeamCenter and UG/NX experience preferred
Familiarity with configuration management and change control processes
Ability to assemble detailed project plans with aggressive but achievable milestones
Efficiently address the needs of multiple projects on a day-to-day basis
Strong communication skills
High sense of urgency
Experience with ground vehicle features/systems
Experience with manufacturing processes
Ability to plan, estimate, execute within budget/schedule
Ability to interface with customers/suppliers/coworkers to get results
Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
Hands on experience with fabrication and/or vehicle work is a plus
