Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist I to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, ensuring accurate labeling, centrifuging, and proper packaging for transport. This role requires clear communication with patients and a thorough understanding of physicians' orders.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

  • Properly explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collections to patients in a clear and courteous manner.

  • Fully understand all physicians' orders.

  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.

  • Package specimens for transport.

  • Store specimen samples according to required temperature.

Work Environment

You will be working in a healthcare setting, handling various specimens including blood, urine, and fecal samples. The role requires adherence to safety and decontamination protocols. The environment will include the use of medical equipment such as centrifuges, and adherence to appropriate sample storage temperatures. The dress code is typical of medical professionals, ensuring a clean and hygienic appearance

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00
