SUMMARY: Functions as a team member under the supervision of a physician and Registered Nurse to provide patient care during a minor procedure. Adheres to aseptic technique and hospital policies and procedures while assisting during minor procedure. Initiates the assessment of patient status, planning of care, implementation of nursing care activities, patient/family teaching and evaluation of patient response to treatment per Minor Procedure protocols. Support the core values and division beliefs during interactions with patients and co-workers.

Position Purpose :

The Workplace Health Medical Assistant, under the direction and supervision of the Clinic manager or a Practitioner, prepares incoming and current team members for their pre-employment screening or follow-up care. Assists practitioners/providers with procedures and processes specimens according to established procedures. Performs in-office testing at direction of practitioner/provider e.g. EKG's, vision testing, strep tests, urinalysis injections, immunizations, etc.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency

  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant (clinical) program or a minimum of 2 years of clinical medical assistant work experience in a fast-paced office setting

Licensure / Certification

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
