Roush has an immediate need within our Advanced Engineering department for an entry-level Design & Development Engineer to join our team. The engineer will coordinate multiple engineering and testing projects, and work hands-on in a test lab, test cell, or vehicle environment. The engineer will also develop validation strategies for components, follow through with testing, generate 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models, and conduct structural simulations to validate designs. This position is based out of Livonia, MI.
As an Entry-level Mechanical Engineer, you will:
- Coordinate multiple engineering and testing projects for a variety of customers
- Work hands-on in test lab, test cell or vehicle environment
- Develop validation strategies for components and follow through with testing
- Generate 3D CAD models and conduct structural simulations to validate designs
- Coordinate internal support activities in professional and shop environment departments (i.e., testing, machine shop, engine build, fabrications, garage services, etc.)
- Prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations for status reviews and project sign-off
- Support component and system design activities
- Perform research on emerging technologies and implement on programs
- Manage bill of materials for mechanical systems
To be considered for an Entry-level Mechanical Engineer, you will need:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 1 year of engineering experience in automotive or other related industry (may include co-ops and/or internship experience)
- Experience as a member of Formula SAE, Mini Baja or equivalent hands-on experience
- Knowledge of 2D/3D CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and an understanding of CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) practices
- Must be a US citizen
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently or in a team and handle several assignments simultaneously
- Ability to handle new technical assignments independently with minimal guidance
- MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency
A successful candidate may also have:
- Master's degree in a science or technical field
- Engine dynamometer or laboratory testing experience
- Hybrid, electric, hydrogen or autonomous vehicle experience
- A valid driver's license with a safe driving record
- Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles
