Summary About the Position: Position is for Facilities Services Assistant for the Chicago District, US Army Corps of Engineers. Position is for Operations Division, Waterways Project Office, Chicago Sanitary Ship Canal Dispersal Barrier Facility in Lockport, IL. Responsibilities Serves as administrative assistant to Facility Manager providing support to include the use of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) such as USACE Facilities Equipment Maintenance (FEM) program and Financial Management System (CEFMS). Perform Staff work for budget tracking and execution, supply management, personnel administration, and records management. Serve as credit card holder to purchase supplies. Utilize the financial management system to input data to develop order requests. Process travel orders and vouchers after ensuring travel arrangements have been made. Utilize computerized maintenance management system. such as Facility Equipment Maintenance (FEM) software to administer the maintenance work order system to control activities of maintenance crew and ensure funds are available. GS-6 Specialized Experience: One-year specialized experience of which includes maintaining a variety of records including financial, personnel, or inventory related to construction or operations and maintenance information in automated systems; assisting other staff in the resolving of a variety of administrative problems. This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: successfully completed a half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as business. Or Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. GS-7 Specialized Experience: One year specialized experience of which includes: serving as the administrative assistant to the Project Office Chief or Project Manager concerning substantive administrative programs to include Facilities Equipment Maintenance (FEM), budget tracking, and execution, purchasing, supply management, personnel administration, the business portion of contract administration, records management, and office automation. Performs staff work in the areas of budget, office automation, purchasing, property control, personnel actions, data process, reporting, Corps of Engineers Financial Management System (CEFMS) data input, computerized maintenance management systems, and other office operations. Serves as liaison with the District Office functional organizations such as CEFMS, human resources, contracting, and finance. This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: successfully completed one full academic year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as business. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and Management Information Management Preventative Maintenance Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent. For the GS-06: You must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-05 or equivalent. For the GS-07 you must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-06 or equivalent. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
