Cleveland Clinic PRN Physical Therapy Assistant in Lodi, Ohio

Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Rehabilitation Services, the Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for working with Physical Therapists to administer patient treatments and patient education within the standards of the APTA. Following an established plan of care, the Physical Therapy Assistant provides services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease.

  • Administers skilled patient treatments from Physical Therapy evaluation findings according to departmental policies and procedures to a varied patient population.

  • Adapts techniques and instructions as necessary to progress care, plan for discharge and provide patient/family education.

  • Observes and reports patient responses to treatment to Physical Therapist.

  • Serves as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the PT performs tests, evaluations and complex treatments.

  • Maintains effective open communication with co-workers, physicians, and patients.

  • Communicates patient care activities effectively, including maintaining precise, informative, current, legible records of all patients being treated.

  • Schedules and coordinates patient care activities effectively.

  • Directs and supervises support personnel in delegated functions.

  • Achieves personal and professional development through participation in continuing education, in-services, and staff orientation.

  • Organizes work assignments and time without compromising quality patient care, to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency.

  • Assists in the development and monitoring of performance improvement initiatives.

  • Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure.

  • Maintain s required CPR certification (BLS).

  • Follows hospital/system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.

  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Associate's degree in Physical Therapy.

Certifications:

  • Current license to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the State of Ohio. Maintains current CPR certification.

Complexity of Work:

  • Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.
