AIG Capital Modelling Risk Analyst in London, United Kingdom

This is a Global role, working closely with teams in London and New York, and would suit someone who would like to pursue a career as a Property Casualty Actuary.

This role is part of our Capital Modelling and Risk Analytics Team, including the AIG Group model used for capital, risk management and portfolio management at a firm-wide level as well as Europe (AESA) and UK Solvency II Approved Internal Models. The team acts a centre of excellence for capital modelling and supports other models around the group, such as for Canada, Japan and AIRCO (Bermuda).

How you will create an impact:

The Capital Modelling Risk Analyst will support the development, testing, and documentation of the business uses of AIG’s Internal Capital models and be involved in supporting the associated production processes. You will provide exposure to the modelling and aggregation of General Insurance, including catastrophic and non-catastrophic risk. The work will range across model parameterization, testing, review and review of results, as well as supporting business partners with uses.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Implement modelling methods in line with model development plans.

  • Perform quantitative analysis of outputs for testing and validation purposes.

  • Confirm appropriateness and reasonability of input data for projects.

  • Develop and maintain documentation relating to model developments.

  • Answer ad-hoc requests from the business regarding risk and capital analysis.

    What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree in Mathematics or Statistics, or Actuarial student making progress towards qualification.

  • Experience of coding in programming languages, such as Python, R or MatLab, and ability to learn new ones.

  • Proven proficiency in mathematical, statistical, and actuarial methodologies.

  • Knowledge of various General Insurance products and roles of different risk types.

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work under own initiative and show flexibility to meet business needs
