Amazon Security Engineering Manager, Holistic Testing in London, United Kingdom

Description

We are seeking a Security Engineering Manager to solve complex security issues and support the growth and development of a team of Cybersecurity Apprentices. In this unique role, you will be responsible for management of our growing Apprentices Program, ensuring the successful development and integration of our Cybersecurity Apprentices. This is an exciting Leadership role with significant impact on talent development within Amazon Security. You will be responsible for overseeing a new team of motivated and talented apprentices, defining their growth trajectory and guiding their onboarding, training, and professional development to help them transition into full-time engineering roles. As an owner of this team, you will have the autonomy to shape the team's impact, and your success will be assessed based on the achievements of the apprentices under your leadership.

As the Security Engineering Apprentices Manager, you will be tasked with solving complex challenges, building scalable solutions to automate processes, and influencing how Amazon services respond to and mitigate security threats. You will own our Verification of Fix (VoF) process and findings classification initiatives while working closely with our security, engineering, and academic partners to drive the continued evolution and success of the apprenticeship program.

Key job responsibilities

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development among the apprentices

  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to ensure apprentices acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles

  • Identify high-potential apprentices and facilitate their transition into full-time engineering positions

  • Work closely with the Amazon Security team to develop large-scale, cutting-edge testing, monitoring, remediation, and analytics solutions

  • Collaborate with internal development teams to create comprehensive security tooling and functional improvements at scale

  • Oversee the end-to-end management of the Apprentices Program, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of cybersecurity apprentices

  • Contribute to the security review and test methodologies for the recurring and holistic assessment of our critical production services

  • Coordinate and oversee the apprentices involvement in the Verification of Fix (VoF) process, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices

  • Effectively manage, mentor, and develop a team of motivated and talented apprentices

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and advocate for the Apprentices Program within the organisation

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in the cybersecurity industry, with a technical background in areas such as pentesting, incident response, or vulnerability management

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage high-performing teams, with excellent people management and mentorship skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and address challenges proactively

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional partners and stakeholders

  • Passion for nurturing and developing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals

Preferred Qualifications

  • A data-driven and quantitative mentality, with the ability to support ideas with available evidence

  • Experience with the design and implementation of technical security controls at the business division level

  • Experience performing or supporting pentesting engagements with an understanding of a holistic assessment

  • Experience with Amazon web services or similar enterprise cloud computing platforms

  • Experience with full-stack (Linux / Unix) software architectures from UI to infrastructure

  • Experience with micro-service, API-based agent, or service-oriented software architectures

  • Participation in Bug Bounty programs
