The PV Subscription Lifecycle and Management team is responsible for the post-signup experience for PV subscriptions. As a Software Development Manager in this space, you will solve large-scale technical challenges in optimization, scalability, security, and privacy, and work across a unified tech stack that can power various client devices such as smart TVs, gaming consoles, web, and mobile devices. Working with Product Managers, key stakeholders, and executives around the world, you will own the engineering vision for how we build and scale our systems. In this space, you will be able to influence customer engagement and retention outcomes through various lifecycle and management features for our customers and partners.

Key job responsibilities

You will be responsible for customer-facing systems that give our customers the most compelling reasons to stay with their video subscriptions. You will oversee the long-term strategic vision for your team, the day-to-day management of your team's roadmap, and the growth and development of your direct reports. You will work with partner teams and stakeholders to ensure we are always delivering the right solutions for customers.

A day in the life

A typical day will involve attending your team's sprint ceremonies (standups, backlog grooming, and retrospective meetings), reviewing operational metrics, one-on-ones with your direct reports and key stakeholders, and meetings to drive alignment with partners and establish and deliver on your team's long-term vision. You will also help to build an inclusive team culture.

Key stakeholders include other SDMs, TPMs, and PMTs in Prime Video and other Amazon businesses (notably Prime, Subscriptions, Music, Outbound Marketing), as well as business managers in worldwide business teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience in engineering

  • Experience in leading the definition and development of multi tier web services

  • Experience managing engineers

  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
