We are now recruiting for a Technical Support Engineer to support our customer with maintenance on the Desiro City 717 Fleet on the Thameslink Moorgate line. Based out of the GTR Depot in Hornsey, London, you will work with the commissioning and performance teams to offer technical support to the customer's maintenance teams, carry out technical investigations, and identify performance improvements.

You‘ll make a difference by ….

  • Provide on-site and off-site technical support, including incident response and rolling stock maintenance with minimal supervision.

  • Monitor train defects, conduct advanced fault finding, and produce detailed technical reports.

  • Act as the Siemens representative on shift, supporting the Operator's maintenance staff and mentoring team members.

  • Attend off-depot meetings and liaise with Siemens departments to support technical investigations and contract delivery.

  • Record and report on Operational Safety incidents and suggest countermeasures for defect trends.

  • Perform audits, performance analysis, and stores/materials support as needed, and deputize for the line manager if required.

  • Adhere to Siemens safety systems and controls in line with Rail Systems HSQE Company policies

You’d describe yourself as …

  • Relevant engineering qualification or experience in a mechanical/electrical engineering environment

  • In depth knowledge of Rolling Stock systems / procedures including schematics, fault finding techniques and download analysis (preferred)

  • Ability to complete all records of actions and operations accurately and to procedures

  • Someone who understands and cares for tools, equipment and PPE as appropriate

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety including bio-hazards, manual handling and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)

  • Ability to fault-find using a number of different methods including diagnostic software

  • Ability to understand and interpret relevant technical publications

  • Ability to produce detailed analytical technical reports

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Full UK Driving Licence
