Job Description:

The L3Harris Integrated Vision Solutions (IVS) sector manufacturing engineering team is responsible for providing our manufacturing operations with the vision, technology, and expertise they need through the entire production process. In this role, you will work with a team of talented engineers and technicians responsible for providing our manufacturing operations with the vision, technology, and expertise they need through the entire production process, from discovery and design to manufacturing and fulfillment.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads development of manufacturing assembly strategies for new products, including process design and development, process documentation, and fixture design and development

  • Plans and supports the build and modification of mechanical and electronics systems including procurement support, assembly method/work instruction generation, tooling design support, material/process development, facilities/equipment planning, implementation of design changes, and resolution of manufacturing, quality, and reliability issues.

  • Leads the root cause and corrective action process, leveraging strong program management skills to drive robust solutions.

  • Provides technical support for launching new equipment to automate and/or enhance production on complex optics or electronics assemblies.

  • Participates in general factory support activities: Lean Huddles, continuous improvement initiatives, failure investigations, and audits.

  • Supports divisional and Operations financial and productivity metrics and improvement goals.

  • Provides design for manufacturability balanced between theoretical electrical and mechanical applications and real-world situations.

  • Uses lean principles, process technology, and automation to continuously improve the manufacturing environments driving cost leadership, world class quality and customer satisfaction.

  • Partners with the Engineering, Quality and Continuous Improvement (e3) to integrate process integrity methods such as xFMEAs and Statistical Process Control (SPC) as a daily way of life.

  • Provides strong written and oral communications within and outside functional group and outside the organization as required to drive solutions.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, optical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent with electro-optical systems experience

  • Manufacturing experience in the assembly and test of complex electronics, optics and/or electro-mechanical assemblies

  • Able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Embodies strong professional work ethic, self-motivation and high attention to details.

  • Experience reading engineering documents (e.g., engineering drawings and test plans) and writing manufacturing work instructions.

  • Experience leading root cause and corrective action investigations.

  • Appreciation for building and working hands-on with materials.

  • Experience deploying new manufacturing technologies, and assisting with new product development / design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA)

  • LabVIEW, CAD, automation experience

  • Demonstrated track record working in cross-functional teams and influencing organizational change.

  • Demonstrated experience / certification in Lean principles, Six Sigma, mistake proofing, etc.

  • Thrives in a fast pace and adaptable environment.

  • Demonstrates the highest levels of integrity, openness, compliance, and honesty in all business interactions.
