Sierra Nevada Corporation Principal Software Engineer in Lone Tree, Colorado

You'll perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting of systems and software throughout our development process. Your technical duties involve the design and development of new software products throughout the product lifecycle.

The SIGINT//EW DSP Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance software systems that process digital signals for intelligence and military purposes. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of signal processing techniques and algorithms and be familiar with the latest hardware and software tools used in Linux SW development. The role requires a strong team player who can work closely with hardware engineers, system architects, and other software developers to bring innovative solutions to the intelligence, military, and defense sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • This role will also support integration, test, and verification in the final products

  • Analyze, design, simulate, and implement algorithms in C++ based on customer requirements and/or MATLAB model(s)

  • Develop high-performance software systems that process digital signals in real-time

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplined design team (electrical engineers, systems engineers and scientists) to design and integrate challenging DSP SW designs and RF sensor systems

  • Design and optimize DSP algorithms for signal demodulation, decoding, filtering, and analysis

  • Implement software solutions that interface with hardware and SW systems (FPGAs, GPUs, GPPs)

  • Develop and maintain software in compliance with security, quality, and performance requirements

  • Contribute to the development of software architectures, design patterns, and engineering best practices

  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging efforts as part of a collaborative team environment

  • This role will also support integration, test, and verification in the final products

  • Develop and maintain requirements documents, functional specification documents, interface control documents, etc

  • Develop project test plans and test procedures, provide test planning support, and assist in the execution of both lab testing and field testing

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field

  • Typically 14 or more years of experience in a related field developing DSP software systems, preferably in a SIGINT/military context - Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and other scripting languages commonly used in DSP systems

  • Advanced capabilities using Computer Aided Engineering tools

  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams

  • Experience with signal processing libraries and frameworks such as Redhawk, GNU radio, intel primitives (IPP), liquid DSP, FFTW, GNU scientific libraries, etc. Familiarity with networking, packets, TCP/IP, UDP, Multicast and network architectures

  • Familiarity with gRPC, sockets, XML and JSON

  • Familiarity with a LINUX development environment, Petalinux and Yocto

  • US Citizenship with ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred:

  • Understanding of industry standard software languages such as C, C#, C++, HTML, Java, Python, and Bash

  • Experience with software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated build

  • Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral

  • Proficient with data structures

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field

  • Familiarity with government open standards: SOSA, VITA, MORA, etc.

  • Familiarity with FPGA and ARM processors and memory access (e.g. DMA) - Familiarity with MATLAB & Simulink

  • Familiarity with revision control (git, cvs, clearcase, etc.)

  • US Citizenship with an Active Security learance

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $138,634.92 - $190,623.01. SNC considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
