This position will supervise, plan, and oversee the day-to-day operations of field service team personnel.

This position will provide supervision and direction on a cross functional basis and will report to the Field Service Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, maintain, integrate, install, troubleshoot and repair AEM environmental products and systems.
  • Ensure day-to-day safe working practices and procedures are followed by the field service team personnel.
  • Assist with identifying, hiring, and overseeing the training of qualified field service personnel.
  • Oversee the training of field service team new hires and existing team personnel as required.
  • Oversee and arrange, as required, travel assignments for field service team personnel.
  • Ensure timely submittal of all documentation, reports, invoices, and expenses for the field service team.
  • Collaborate in completing performance reviews for each member of the field team where applicable.
  • Ensure service orders are assigned in a timely manner. This includes assigning high-priority service orders within 24 hours.
  • Actively participate in pre-proposal communications with the customer to ensure a full understanding of the customers' field service project requirements.
  • Collaborate in generating detailed field service project management plans with internal departments.
  • Configure appropriate system designs based on customer's requirements.
  • Work with commercial and customer success teams as required to plan or resolve field service projects or related sales order and customer issues.
  • Oversee construction, installation, acceptance, and maintenance activities that utilize subcontractors on assigned field service projects.
  • Verify field sites are ready for work and the necessary materials, equipment and permissions are in place prior to dispatching crews or subcontractors to the field sites.
  • Program data loggers with customer specific requirements and develop data logger code to communicate with various sensor inputs.
  • Create reports for individual inspection rounds, end of year summaries, and installations.
  • Provide feedback to design and development teams, discuss design issues, and investigate problems.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, provide equipment and system recommendations, and ensure needs and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with the project management team to achieve project deliverables.
  • Apply data integrity standards to ensure that timely entry, accuracy, and consistency of data is used in any system, or digital tool that stores, processes, or retrieves data.
  • Approval of field team timecards where applicable.
  • Ensure that all project documentation is consistently maintained to reflect accurate project status.
  • Ensure defined standard operating practices and procedures are implemented and followed within the field service teams.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in physical/natural science, engineering, hydrology or an applicable equivalent combination of education, experience and/or trainin
  • 5+ years of technical/field service team supervision or leadership.
  • 3+ years' experience as an installer of mounting hardware, sensors, cables, masts, antennas, satellite dishes or network equipment an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for data related to meteorology, environmental monitoring, flood warning, wildfire, and public safety.
  • Proven operation and proper use of common hand and machine tools
  • Proven operation and proper use of digital multi-meters, oscilloscope, and other electrical diagnostic tools
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising a technical field service team of similar size.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks.
  • Proven track record in project management, subcontractor management, customer service operations, and fiscal management skills.
  • Knowledge of DC circuitry and circuitry analysis, electronics, and radio communications.
  • Understanding of hydrological and meteorological engineering principles.
  • Broad and extensive knowledge of remote data collection systems.
  • Experience with GIS mapping software and tools.
  • Related experience with cameras, networking, point-to-point telemetry, cloud software and mobile applications.
  • Demonstrated complex problem-solving ability and sound judgement.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to manage time efficiently to meet both client and company needs.
  • Demonstrated competency with Microsoft Windows software products.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with ERP software systems.
