Barnhill Orchards is a small berry farm that also grows seasonal vegetables including but not limited to tomatoes, lettuce, okra, squash corn, and melons. Workers perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to field preparation, manually planting, cultivating, harvesting, grading, and packing for the various crops. Workers transplant, thin, prune, stake and string crops. Clean and prepare fields for additional crops. Pick berries when in season. Preseason Weed and remove dead leaves from berry plants. Deploy and remove row covers as weather changes. Post season remove plants, plastic and irrigation lines by hand. Prepare for new crop by laying plastic and water lines. Plant berry plubs. Prune and clean blackberry bushes. Prune peach trees, haul out branches, thin fruit, harvest fruit,\ maintain the orchard. Plant greenhouse seeds for other seasonal crops, field plant seeds/plugs, lay plastic and water lines, plant, harvest, pack, and transport crops to the cooler. Maintain hoop houses. Maintain and repair irrigation systems. Workers are expected to work in all types of extreme weather conditions including extreme heat and cold. Prolonged bending, stooping, and reaching. Lift 50lb bags. Load and unload trucks of supplies and produce. The employer may reward excellent work with additional hourly pay and/or bonus payments. Any additional pay is at the sole discretion of the employer.
