POSITION DESCRIPTION Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and managing the project activities of assigned environmental projects. Provides advanced leadership and direction to project teams and/or managers to achieve project activities. Is responsible for project performance against budget, overall progress against schedule. Responsible for identifying deviations from project plan and implements corrective action(s). Identifies resource needs for key project positions. Provides input to project policy processes and development. Has wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and Laboratory objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Frequently contributes to the development of new theories and methods. Considered expert in field within the organization. Develops resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity and where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in the inability to reach crucial organizational objectives and may have a prolonged effect, as well as result in the expenditure of substantial resources. Work is accomplished without considerable direction. May coordinate activities of other personnel. Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of assignment, and determines the methods and procedures needed for new assignments. Advanced-level experience in the use of project management principles, concepts and techniques as applied to environmental projects. Responsible for managing, coordinating and administering complex, multi-function projects or multiple small projects. Applies Laboratory policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. Provides resolutions to an assortment of problems of complex scope where analysis of situations/data requires a review of a variety of factors. Responsible for project execution and meeting organizational objectives. Supervises project team and establishes directions. Develops and communicates detailed instructions on new projects. Reviews work for accuracy, soundness of judgment and overall adequacy. A review work and perform quality control in progress and determines appropriate corrective actions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Ability to work in a diverse work environment, Pre-placement physical examination, which includes drug screening, and inclusion in random drug testing program, Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values, BS Degree in relevant field. MS is preferred. 8+ years of experience. 2+ years being in project management, engineering, or relevant discipline. 2+ years performing as a Project Manager. Demonstrated experience evaluating and documenting long-term environmental stewardship. Demonstrated proficiency in facilitating and managing cross organization and stakeholder communication. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and communicate concerns in a timely manner. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS LOCATION Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) - Los Alamos, NM Position will be hybrid. Some work may be done from home. Office space in Los Alamos and Santa Fe available when on-site. 5/8 schedule with flexible hours. May vary from 20-30 hours a week to no hours for a week. Local candidates are desired for this role due to the nature.
