Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given.
Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas.
Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
Supports integration and encourages communication with other offices, Los Alamos Medical Center, and LifePoint Healthcare, Inc., to ensure consistency, access to resources, and mutual support and problem solving.
Recommends staffing levels and patterns, prepares work schedules, arranges coverage of nursing and office staff absences to ensure ongoing, high quality care and service. Assists in arranging provider coverage.
Provides daily oversight of support staff to ensure smooth and timely provision of care and service.
Helps prioritize daily work and may spend up to half of time relieving or assisting office staff to maintain efficient and effective operations.
Maintains a thorough grasp of the legalities of medical record-keeping procedures, federal and state laws on confidentiality, malpractice law, informed consent, release of medical records, termination of doctor-patient relationship, and reportable diseases; monitors, assists, and trains clinic staff as necessary. Interfaces closely with LAMC Health Information Management Department regarding any and all issues regarding the above.
Responsible for tracking and ordering supplies, both office and medical, for the office.
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) within ninety (90) days from hire.
New hires will have ninety (90) days from hire to obtain American Heart Association certifications. Notwithstanding this 'grace period' for obtaining American Heart Association certifications, employees are not excused from being current in any and all existing certifications that are required for their position as outlined in the job description.
