    Position description

The Department of English at UCLA invites applications for lecturers to teach early modern British literature. Candidate must have a PhD. Candidates should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae and dossier including three letters of recommendation and a teaching statement. We welcome candidates who possess a record of teaching excellence, training and experience in teaching literature to a diverse student body, and evidence of a strong commitment to diversity, inclusive pedagogy, student success, and access to higher education.

We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in teaching poetry, prose and drama of the early modern period, including the works of Shakespeare and Milton. Experience in upper as well as lower division teaching at a major research university is preferred.

Qualifications and application requirements:

-- Cover Letter, including a description of pedagogical training and teaching experience

-- Syllabus: the syllabus you submit should clearly reflect your teaching practice, be a roadmap for students taking the course, clearly lay out what students can expect to learn, and contain a course calendar (for the quarter system) that shows the content and organization of the course, as well as a clear description of the major assignments students complete in the course.
