Burns & McDonnell’s regional operation in Southern California is looking for an Air Quality Practice Lead to oversee air permitting & compliance project execution to the power, industrial, commercial, transportation and manufacturing industries. Join a well-established California regional Environmental Services team and lead a variety of challenging environmental air quality projects while mentoring and directing less experienced staff as you grow an outstanding team around you. The successful candidate will also identify and develop new business opportunities, with an overall objective of expanding Burns & McDonnell’s air quality technical practice in California.
Prepare air permit applications for major projects, including Prevention of Significant Deterioration and Title V air permits.
Demonstrate knowledge of a wide variety of complex industrial operations; some experience in refining is a plus.
Responsible for keeping up to date with new and proposed air permitting requirements, emission estimating methods, and regulations.
Utilize entrepreneurial motivation to help drive sales.
Progressive project management responsibilities with experience delivering financially successful projects and leading on quality assurance/control procedures.
Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff members.
Regularly meets and corresponds with clients, agency officials, or other outside personnel. Interested in international working partnerships.
Specific knowledge and ability to bring key clients preferred.
Knowledge of permitting laws in California including interaction with CARB and the various local air quality management/air pollution control districts.
This position includes some marketing responsibilities and occasional travel.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science or related degree from an accredited program plus minimum 7 years of applicable experience (12 years of experience preferred).
Completion of a master's degree in a related field may be substituted for 1 year of experience.
Previous consulting and project management experience is highly preferred.
Ability to leverage existing client relationships into future business opportunities is highly preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving.
Deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government, and public contracts on project-related matters.
Professional registration preferred.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with contractors, co-workers, and other professionals.
Proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
This position requires an individual capable of and experienced with applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to a variety of broad areas of air quality consulting assignments.
Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
Compensation
$150,000.00-260,000.00 Annually
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
