Description

Our client is a leading company in their industry with a portfolio that spans across various sectors. They are in search of a diligent and qualified Labor and Employment In-House Counsel for a long term fully remote contract need.

The Labor & Employment In-House Counsel will be primarily responsible for managing employment litigation, drafting employee handbooks, and implementing sound employment policies. Your knowledge and insights will play a vital role in shaping the company's employment practices, while ensuring legal compliance and a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all employment-related litigation cases, including discrimination, wrongful termination, wage & hour, and employment contract disputes.

  • Draft, review and update company employee handbook, ensuring it reflects current federal, state, and local legislation and corresponds to the latest industry practices.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive and compliant employment policies, procedures, and protocols.

  • Guide the company in the implementation and enforcement of workplace policies and matters related to employment law.

  • Provide preventative legal guidance and risk management advice to management.

  • Conduct regular training and workshops for staff on understanding and adhering to employment policies.

  • Collaborate closely with outside counsel on litigation matters when needed.

  • Stay updated with the latest legal trends and effectively communicate these updates to the corresponding departments.

    Requirements

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

  • Admission to practice law and in good standing in any state.

  • Demonstrated experience, preferably 5+ years, in labor and employment law with specific experience in litigation, employee handbooks, and policy implementation.

  • Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and procedures.

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Superior oral and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
