UCLA Health Recreation Therapist II in Los Angeles, California
Description
Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of the Marilyn Hilton MS Achievement Center (MSAC), the Recreation Therapist will plan and implement Recreation Therapy programs for members of the center. Major duties include provision of Recreation Therapy programs and services integrating into the center's philosophy of empowering members living with multiple sclerosis to live well and improve their quality of life. Duties include, but are not limited to:integrating the MSAC's and interdisciplinary team plans and goals, supervision and training of RT students, UCLA students, volunteers, and maintaining their professional and clinical competence.
Salary Range: $44.69 - $58.96 HourlyQualifications
All Required:
Registered Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with the California Parks and Recreation Society and/or certification by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation.
Current CPR certificate
Current Lifeguard Training Certificate and First Aid Certificate
Demonstrated skill in observing and analyzing patient behavior
Detailed knowledge of theories of growth and development throughout the life stages
Detailed knowledge of theories of Therapeutic Recreation
Detailed knowledge of psychopathology
Demonstrated skill in administering a wide range of basic evaluation instruments
Skill in analyzing information to formulate strengths and problems
Skill in writing concise, logical and grammatically correct reports
Ability to make oral group presentations to provide information on patients
Skill in analyzing complex patient behavior to define objectives

Knowledge of community recreation resources
Skill in techniques of patient and family education
Skill in modifying and/or adapting treatment techniques to improve treatment outcomes
Skill in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and collaborating with colleagues
Skill in prioritizing responsibility complete work in a timely manner
Demonstrated skill in planning and implementing training program for therapeutic students
Ability to assess and document student or peer performance using objective criteria
Ability to provide job related information in a clear concise manner
Skill in performing basic inventory procedures and ordering supplies and equipment
Skill in analyzing and/or changing program components based upon the needs of the patient population
Skill in working independently and following through on assignments
