JOB LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA
POSITION : Senior Automation Engineer
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Baxalta US Inc., a Shire Company, is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer with the following duties: implement systems to improve manufacturing KFAs by building strong partnership with floor leadership; drive value added results for business by identifying improvement opportunities from metrics and implementing in timely manner; implement meaningful metrics for business in close partnership with floor leadership, if metrics do not exist; perform user interventions to ensure manufacturing process maintains continuous flow; implement sustainable system to reduce UI occurrence and re-occurrence; create, update, and maintain manufacturing SOPs to ensure they are in-line with current process steps; periodically audit manufacturing and engineering SOPs and revise to maintain rigid connection between control system actions and manual operations; solve automation system and manufacturing equipment issues that result in production delays; coordinate and contact support groups for assistance including DeltaV, EBM, PLC, EBR, process, equipment, and instrumentation; participate in execution of Project Record (PR) ownership, DeltaV/EBM configuration changes, functional tests, Commissioning Plans, and Qualification Protocols; lead team in day-to-day manufacturing operations, troubleshooting, and change recommendations; implement actions to prevent reoccurrence including process and equipment issues; lead and close small-medium process improvement projects that relate to DeltaV/EBM, manufacturing process, manufacturing equipment, and operator interaction with automation system; train manufacturing operators on interaction between manufacturing process and automation; own and close corrective actions related to automation system including but is not limited to Corrective Action & Preventative Action (CAPA), which are generated due to user interventions and non-conformances/events; lead and schedule activities for Bldg 5 & Bldg 8 DeltaV/EBM projects to ensure all automation engineering actions are completed by assigned due dates; develop job-aids and standard work for complex or reoccurring user interventions, equipment troubleshooting, and production automation engineering processes; own multiple systems in fractionation process and provide expert feedback for DeltaV changes, user interventions, and non-conformance investigations; develop and own production automation engineering QIT system(s) to track key team metrics; lead/facilitate Kaizen/DDFP activities to identify, correct, and continuously improve manufacturing operations; lead improvement projects related to DeltaV/EBM/PLC/BAS, manufacturing process and equipment, including operator interaction with the automation system; own TrackWise Project Records (PR) related to DeltaV/EBM/PLC/BAS configuration changes, functional tests, Commissioning Plans, and Qualification Protocols; resolve automation system and equipment issues and lead support groups in troubleshooting of DeltaV, EBM, PLC, EBR, BAS, process, equipment, and instrumentation; own systems for fractionation and purification process areas and implements/executes control system changes, user interventions, and corrective action investigations.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field plus 3 years related experience. Will accept any level of experience in the following required skills: lead improvement projects related to DeltaV/EBM/PLC/BAS, manufacturing process and equipment, including operator interaction with the automation system; own TrackWise Project Records (PR) related to DeltaV/EBM/PLC/BAS configuration changes, functional tests, Commissioning Plans, and Qualification Protocols; resolve automation system and equipment issues and lead support groups in troubleshooting of DeltaV, EBM, PLC, EBR, BAS, process, equipment, and instrumentation; own systems for fractionation and purification process areas and implements/executes control system changes, user interventions, and corrective action investigations.
Full time: $86,000 - $91,000/year. Competitive compensation and benefits.
