Shire Senior Financial Analyst in Los Angeles, California
This position supports both the Los Angeles Manufacturing Facility, the largest plasma fractionating and purification plant within Shire and the Round Lake filling and finishing facility. In this role the analyst will support all Capital related activities at both locations and a portion of the operating expenses (OPEX) for the Los Angeles facility. A successful candidate will execute the key job responsibilities listed below but will also be expected to push improvements in process flow and design, and with the development of new analytic tools to support the needs of the business. Being located on site affords the rare opportunity to work closely in a one on one setting with the business partners you support, develop new processes and procedures where none currently exist or can be improved upon and have an immediate impact.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the Month End close process and prepare analysis for the monthly/quarterly/annually Capital Accounting.
Partner with Project Management Office and Project Managers to ensure accurate Forecast and Annual Budget
Assist in documenting, creating, developing and maintaining policies and procedures.
Ownership of Capital Accounting and Asset Substantiation process
Lead month end close process and prepare analysis for internal stakeholders, and above site corporate reporting.
Manage forecast/budget/long range plan for operating expense development.
Facilitate meetings and presentations with site stakeholders on OPEX spend and performance.
Work to help identify and implement continuous improvements within the Finance organization and to leverage the existing financial ERP systems for maximum benefit.
Will own some of the individual work streams related to the site’s strategic initiatives, presenting the opportunity to manage a team, deliverables, and a final product for the site.
Add hoc reporting and analysis as needed
Self-starter with strong analytical skills and decision-making capabilities.
Strong technical and financial knowledge, including understanding of internal control requirements and accounting principles as well as understanding of relevant business environment.
Strong analytical skills with familiarity with accounting, financial analysis and reporting.
Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, often cross-functionally
High degree of proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and Power Point) is essential. SAP experience is desired, in addition to familiarity with IBM Cognos TM1 (Planning Analytics Workspace).
Experience in organizing, preparing and presenting briefings to Customers, Management and peers.
Education and/or experience
Typically requires a Bachelors' degree, preferably in accounting or finance related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
5+ years of related experience, with at least four years of experience in company financial reporting, financial analysis, and decision support.
Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 10 lbs.
In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.
General office environment.
Must be able to work additional hours as needed
