UCLA Health Staff Research Associate I in Los Angeles, California
Description
The Department of Medicine is seeking a hardworking and energetic Staff Research Associate I to join our Imaging Core Facility which is focused on providing training and imaging related services for UCLA academics and industry collaborators. The Imaging Core Facility is equipped with light and transmission electron microscopes focused on the study of mitochondrial biology. The position requires knowledge and experience or desire to learn about different microscopy techniques, including preparation of samples, image acquisition and analysis with imaging analysis software. Experience working on tissue culture is required, and experience with immunofluorescence, confocal imaging, transmission electron microscopy and image analysis will be evaluated. Assistance with Imaging Core organization and maintenance is also required.
Hourly range: $26.52-$31.63
Qualifications
Required:
Experienced in working with tissue culture.
Good work ethic, communication skills and ability to work well independently or as a part of a group.
Working knowledge of basic laboratory equipment (centrifuge, incubators, spectrophotometer, etc).
Skill in using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
General knowledge of chemistry and meticulous preparation of reagents.
Preferred:
BS in Biology, Biotechnology, Physiology, Chemistry or related
Experienced in working with Light Microscopy and/or Electron microscopy. Preparation, imaging, and analysis of fixed and live samples
General knowledge on mitochondria biology
Understanding of University procedures and policies for ordering and biohazard, radioactive and chemical waste disposal.
