UCLA Health Staff Research Associate in Los Angeles, California

Description

The

Seet Lab is focused on discovery and innovation relating to cellular

immunotherapies for cancer. The lab's mission is to apply immunology research

to develop treatments with the potential to meaningfully impact patients'

lives.

The

primary duty of the Staff Research Associate is to provide technical research

expertise to the Seet Laboratory by performing experiments and techniques in

molecular and cellular biology and immunology, including cell culture,

molecular cloning, flow cytometry, isolation of cells from primary samples, and

working with animal models. You will receive mentorship and experience in

academic scientific research, with the goal of independence in this position,

and shall expect creative output including co-authorship on relevant publications

and presentations. Additional duties include, but are not limited to lab

management, including keeping meticulous records; maintaining laboratory

equipment and supplies; and assisting with ordering and inventory. You will

also be expected to supervise and train other lab members if needed.

The

ideal candidate must be self-motivated and willing to work independently on

projects. Strong organizational skills, attention to details, multi-tasking

capacities, excellent communication skills, trouble-shooting abilities and,

most of all, a passion for science are required.

Salary

offers are determined based on various factors including, but not limited to,

qualifications, experience, and equity. The full hourly salary range for this

position is: $25.75 - $30.71.

Qualifications

Required:

  • BS or higher degree in Biological-related field with appropriate lab experience.

  • Experience with molecular biology including PCR, plasmid DNA and RNA preparation.

  • Working knowledge and experience in general cell biology and molecular biology techniques.

  • Ability to keep organized, descriptive and accurate laboratory records.

  • Ability to use computer software for word processing, data tabulation in excel.

  • Knowledge and ability to order supplies and maintain laboratory equipment.

  • Ability and knowledge to operate basic laboratory equipment, i.e., centrifuge, tissue culture hood and related equipment, autoclaving, weighing, pipetting microliter volumes among other equipment.

  • Knowledge and ability to order reagents and supplies maintain laboratory equipment and adhere performance to a written SOP(s).

  • Prior experience with human cell culture and cellular immunology methods.

  • Prior experience with mouse handling and maintenance.
