About the RoleSierra Space is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Engineering Intern to join our dynamic team. The intern will support various projects and initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, productivity, and quality within our manufacturing and operational processes. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in industrial engineering and work alongside experienced professionals in the aerospace industry. Our Co-ops have the unique experience of getting both mentoring and coaching while working side by side with recognized industry experts on real-world assignments directly related to their field of study. Bring your knowledge and desire to learn, and we will provide the experience.

Co-op's are full time, 40 hour a week commitments and span an entire semester, with the possibility of starting the summer before (Fall Co-op) or extending into the summer after (Spring Co-op). Depending on satisfactory completion of certain criteria during your internship, you may be considered for a full-time position upon graduation.

You'll ask questions, get involved, bring your ideas, be part of an actual project team, attend planning meetings, complete assignments as tasked by your team, absorb and learn from your team and apply that learning to projects assigned. You'll have the opportunity to learn fundamental business processes and procedures, build your technical foundation through practice and mentorship, and participate in an in-depth program built by our University Recruiting team, that includes cross-functional workshops and meeting with leadership to gain understanding of the business and our culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in Process Improvement Projects:Support senior engineers by contributing to ongoing process improvement projects. This might include data collection, preliminary analysis, and documentation.

Data Collection and Analysis:Gather data from production processes, equipment, and workers to analyze current operational performance. Use basic statistical tools to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Support Tasks:Provide assistance in various tasks assigned by senior engineers, including preparing reports, creating diagrams, and organizing project files.

Time and Motion Studies:Conduct basic time and motion studies to evaluate the efficiency of workers and equipment, under the guidance of senior engineers

Documentation:Help in creating and maintaining process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process maps.

Facility Layout Support:Assist in drafting and updating facility layout plans using CAD software. Support senior engineers in layout planning and design tasks.

Minimum Qua ifications:

Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

Must have at least one academic term remaining after the completion of the internship

Must have some familiarity with manufacturing operations

Strong skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio

Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment

Strong organization skills and work ethic; detail oriented

Preferred Qualifications:

Pursuing an engineering degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field
