University of Louisville Medical Billing Coordinator II in Louisville, Kentucky

Minimum Requirements:High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Position Description:The Department of Radiation Oncology is accepting application for a Medical Billing Coordinator II. This position is responsible for compiling patient demographic information necessary for accurate insurance billing in addition to general office duties. The position interacts as needed with internal customers to include patient account representatives and clinic staff. The Medical Billing Coordinator II actively participates in department performance initiatives when needed to ensure department success.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Print weekly reports from the EMR to identify patients new to the department, established patients, and patients beginning/finishing treatment.Prepare weekly registration packets to include setting up patient charts, printing demographic information and insurance cards.Identify critical start/finish dates and review weekly for any changes.Identify patients that will not be receiving treatment and/or will be at risk of timely filing.Verifying insurance information in EPIC and correcting data incorrectly uploaded to the EPIC system.Re-verify insurances monthly.Report insurance discrepancies and/or terminations to billing staff and to patient account managers.Communicate with team members and patient account managers regarding missing authorizations or other missing information.Manually key in charges to EPIC as needed.Review daily EMR report for physician documentation/signatures.Review daily EMR reports for supporting documentation.Manually enter charges into EPIC system as needed.Provide back up support as needed to other department staff.Routine office tasks as required.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with ARIA, Cerner and EPIC.Experience with insurance verification preferred.CompetenciesDetail oriented.Strong verbal communication skills.Target Compensation Maximum:$27.85Target Compensation Minimum:$18.56Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.Equal Employment OpportunityThe University of Louisville is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer, and is committed to providing employment opportunities to all qualified applicants without regard to race, sex, age, color, national origin, ethnicity, creed, religion, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity and expression, marital status, pregnancy, or veteran status.
