Our RAMS Managers are passionate about Functional Safety and enjoy working with designers to deliver safe solutions to meet customer needs. We incorporate RAMS management throughout the entire product development lifecycle - from a use case definition, RAMS planning over requirement clarification, design, software development, hardware development, test, validation, field test, pilot projects, product qualification, and safety case to independent safety evaluations.

Position Overview:

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Establishing system requirements concerning reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety using customer requirements and FRA guidelines.

  • Preparing and implementing project safety plans in line with our standards and practices. Also, ensure that vital documents (hazard analyses, fault tree analyses, safety cases, etc.) are available for approval.

  • Acting as the intermediary between the project and approval authority; support project execution by coordinating requirements with the Project Manager, Systems Engineers, Independent Safety Assessors, Suppliers, and Customers

  • Performing RAM and Safety Analyses, FMEA, and FTA to identify system and operation faults.

  • Ensuring process consistency throughout the SDLC within the scope of responsibility.

  • Independently leading the system safety and reliability elements of sophisticated technical projects.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • BSc. / MSc. In Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Sciences, or a similar field

  • Validated experience as a RAMS Engineer or RAMS Manager for complex and safety-critical Railroad, Nuclear Plant, Aerospace, Automotive systems, or other regulated industries.

  • Firm understanding of ITC-PTC and the Rail Safety Improvement Act

  • Knowledge and expertise of the Safety Assurance Concepts per IEEE-1483 and ability to guide safety-critical software development per EN50128

  • Validated on-the-job experience with the following techniques: FMECA, FTA, PHA, Hazard Logs, and Interface Hazard Analysis (EN50159)

  • Hands-on knowledge of CENELEC (EN50126, EN50128, and EN50129) and ability to guide safety-critical software development

  • Experience with Interface Hazard analysis (EN50159)

  • RAMS relevant standards (IEEE-1483, MIL-882, IEC-61508, MIL-217) knowledge is preferred

This job is based in Louisville, KY. Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees. The base salary range for this position in Louisville, KY, is $120,300 - $162,400, and the annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
