University of Louisville Senior Manager, Unit Finance Administration in Louisville, Kentucky

Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or a related field and six (6) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Grade 9 (Salaried)Position Description:The Senior Manager, Unit Finance Administration in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery plays a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of the department, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and supporting strategic financial planning. This position involves overseeing budgetary processes, financial reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Senior Manager, Unit Finance Administration collaborates with departmental leadership to optimize financial performance and achieve organizational goals. This position reports to the Department Chair and the Senior Director.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesFinancial Planning and Analysis:Help develop and implement financial plans, budgets, and forecasts for the Orthopedic Surgery Department.Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making, identify trends, and provide recommendations for improvement.Help develop pro-formas for new faculty, staff, clinic locations, and new equipment justification.Develop capital item requests.Budget Management:Help coordinate and develop annual budget, working closely with department leaders to establish realistic financial targets.Help monitor and control departmental expenditures, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.Approvals for workday, on-base, premier expenses, journal entries, etc.Tracking and reporting of physician incentive pay, call pay, x-pay, and conference expenses.Financial Reporting:Prepare regular financial reports and statements for departmental leadership, providing insights into financial performance and production. Separate reports for each academic program, research, contract, and clinical area.Present financial information and variance reports in a clear and understandable manner to facilitate informed decision-making.Grant, Contract, and Fund Management:Manage grants, contracts, and other funding sources, ensuring compliance with requirements and reporting.Collaborate with research administrators to optimize financial support for research projects within the department.Ensure collections from academic and clinical contracts.Revenue Cycle Management:Oversee billing and revenue cycle processes, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims.Implement strategies to maximize revenue and minimize billing errors.Work with clinical staff on improving up-front collectionsReconciliation over surgical billingsPartner with central billing office with monthly meetings.Compliance:Stay current with financial regulations and healthcare compliance standards.Ensure the department's financial practices adhere to regulatory guidelines and internal policies.Oversee the reconciliation of payroll and other department expenses.Financial Strategy:Collaborate with departmental leadership to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the overall goals of the Orthopedic Surgery Department.Align pro-card and funds-flow activities.Risk Management:Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate potential challenges.Work with stakeholders to establish contingency plans for financial uncertainties.Collaboration:Collaborate with other departments, finance teams, and hospital administration to foster a cohesive financial environment.Provide financial expertise and support to cross-functional teams within the organization.Continuous Improvement:Evaluate existing financial processes and systems, recommending and implementing improvements for increased efficiency and effectiveness.Stay informed about industry best practices and implement relevant advancements.Tracking of vacation, CME usage of providers.The Senior Manager, Unit Finance Administration in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery plays a pivotal role in maintaining the financial health of the department, ensuring compliance, and contributing to the overall success of the organization.
