Entry-Level Maintenance Engineer - Paper Converting

Job Summary: As a Maintenance Engineer in our paper converting facility, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our production equipment. You will work closely with the maintenance team to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary repairs to minimize downtime and maximize production output. You will report to the facility Maintenance and Engineering Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience in the field of paper converting and industrial maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working with machinery and tools.

  • Lead, guide, and assist maintenance technicians and supervision with troubleshooting and maintenance tasks on production equipment, including paper slitters, rewinders, laminators, and other machinery used in paper converting.

  • Learn to identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and work towards effective solutions to minimize equipment downtime.

  • Assist in the implementation of a preventive maintenance program to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production and quality control, to address maintenance-related concerns and maintain production schedules.

  • Learn to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams to aid in troubleshooting and repair activities.

  • Understand and improve maintenance processes around equipment components, such as bearings, belts, gears, motors, and sensors.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and parts replacements.

  • Participate in training programs to continuously enhance technical skills and stay updated on industry best practices.

  • Reduce equipment downtime using processes such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Preventive Maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM), Oil Analysis, Vibration Testing, Ultrasonic Acoustic Monitoring (UAM), and Infrared Thermography (IR).

  • Become familiar with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and scheduling,

  • Lead maintenance planning meetings and outage meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. New graduates are encouraged to apply.

  • Strong passion for mechanical and technical systems with a desire to learn and grow within an industrial maintenance role.

  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical principles and an aptitude for troubleshooting technical issues.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically under pressure.

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and maintenance equipment is a plus.

  • Knowledge of paper converting processes and equipment is beneficial but not required.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends and overtime.
