Position Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Budget Analyst I to join our team. In this introductory role, you will play a crucial part in the budgeting process for Texas Tech. The position involves performing specialized analytical duties in the operation and maintenance of the assigned area and leveraging your analytical skills to support our institution. Strong customer service skills will be essential when working with various departments, providing insightful data analysis and contributing to the development of budgets that align with our strategic goals.

As a Budget Analyst I, you will not only assist in preparing and monitoring budgets but also engage in analysis to identify trends and discrepancies in financial performance. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about numbers and eager to learn.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Develop professional skills in data analysis and project implementation, while also gaining a deep understanding of the funding sources and operational processes of the University.

  • Collecting, analyzing, and interpret financial data to support the University.

  • Making recommendations and assisting in the implementation of projects and process improvements.

  • Provide assistance and training to departments and perform duties required to complete the annual budget prep cycle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years experience in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

  • Experience in Microsoft Excel

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills
